My name is Liz Ramos. I am a painter who enjoys the craftsmanship of painting between flat thin areas and rendered thick forms. The objects I paint are caricatures of what is emblematic to me, what I find beautiful; whether it is bodies, trinkets, or myself. The process of the work is more of a flow and stream of consciousness. The easter eggs of trains and turnstiles are my way of showing the connection I have with public transportation. My self portraits that involve the city buildings, graffiti tags and street art are my connection to the city. My portraits involving silk, drapery, patterning, the blood flow under skin, and the color pink is my connection to femininity. I am very connected to the craftsmanship of creating a composition and the process.

Liz Ramos is a multidisciplinary artist in South Philadelphia. Graduating University of the Arts this following Spring 2023, Liz is practicing studio art, mural assisting with Hagopian Arts, and curating exhibitions at University of the Arts and Brandywine Workshop and Archives. Her work focuses on sensations within voids of metropolitan spaces and the figure. Her work is framed by her experiences in Philadelphia, and interacting with layered imagery with a focus on detail of each surface and body. She is influenced by artists like Tali Lennox and Pat Phillips as they render their forms in a very specific and strategic visual language. She works with oil paint, acrylic, and water color as well as incorporating materials like lace fabrics in her work. Ramos has received the Trustee's Award, Excellence in Arts, Gertrude S. Schell, and Donald Stanley Wilf and Peter H. Arger, Dean's Scholarship for Artistic Merit, and the School of Art Scholarship awards at University of the Arts. She has exhibited at the Allentown Arts Walk, at University of the Arts, as well as student-run group shows in Philadelphia, Pa. She has assisted for multiple murals, working with Matt Halms in Allentown, Pa, and Hagopian Arts, in Philadelphia, Pa. She plans to receive her BFA and continue as a studio artist as well as a mural artist.
